AUSTIN, TEXAS– The Libertarian Party of Texas has adopted a resolution rejecting party support for candidates who accept political support from AIPAC or any foreign-connected political organization.
The resolution states that American elections should be decided by Americans and establishes a standard for candidates seeking support from the Libertarian Party of Texas. “American elections should be decided by Americans. This resolution affirms that principle and sets a clear standard for what LPTexas expects from the candidates it supports,” said Paul Darr, LPTexas Vice Chair and former Vice Chair of the Libertarian National Committee.
This comes on the heel of the party’s recent electoral success in local elections. Scott Peterson, a member of the Libertarian Party of Texas, had been elected as councilor of the City of Rosenberg, District 3, by earning a total of 50.31% of all votes.
The resolution also calls on AIPAC to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act when legally required. It further opposes PACs, Super PACs, or political organizations acting on behalf of, directed by, or primarily advancing the interests of a foreign government.
Ted Brown, Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate, said he strongly supports the resolution.
