LONG ISLAND, NY — The Prohibition Party, America’s oldest third party, has unveiled a new strategic plan aimed at revitalizing its organization and preparing for the 2028 presidential election.

While much of the nation’s third-party attention is focused on the ongoing general strikes and protests against the Trump administration, the Prohibition Party is taking a decidedly different approach, focusing on long-term structural growth and policy advocacy.

Titled “2026 and Beyond: Moving Forward,” the plan, published on the party’s website, outlines a multi-faceted strategy to “grow and engage membership, advance policy advocacy, develop state and local organization, look for opportunities to run candidates, and prepare for the 2028 presidential elections.”

Central to the party’s platform is its long-standing focus on public health. The manifesto states the party is “especially focused on advocating for comprehensive policies to address alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, as social and public health problems.” The party pledges to oppose efforts that weaken restrictions on harmful substances and to “end government support for the alcohol industry.”

The plan also details specific organizational goals, highlighting Tennessee and Alaska as key states for development. The party is actively seeking members interested in building state-level chapters and is encouraging potential candidates to come forward for local elections.

Looking ahead, the party is already laying the groundwork for the 2028 presidential election. According to the document, the Prohibition Party is actively working on ballot access, with current efforts underway in Alaska. The party plans to hold a national convention in 2027 to select its presidential ticket.

The manifesto concludes with a direct appeal to voters disillusioned with the current political climate, framing the major parties as having “failed to meet the needs of the public.”

“The Prohibition Party offers a positive alternative to the major parties,” the statement reads. “We believe in ethical public service, in good governance, in protecting public health, and strengthening communities. If you agree, then come join us and help build a better future for America.”
